Route information for Ramasgate Challenge 2019  !!!!!DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSPORTS!!!!!

All riders will start at Chertsey and head to Ramatseliso’s Gate border post via 45km of nice, flowing sled paths and scenic gravel roads. It is very important that every rider and their crew be armed with the necessary travel documents (passports, plus unabridged birth certificates for under 18’s as well as parental consent, if needed.) Once through the border post, it’s a quick 2km to the Start / Finish of the Lesotho section.

The Hobby class riders will have numerous spectator points from which they can choose to spectate the Bronze, Silver and Gold riders on the rest of the course. The entire Silver and Gold loops are visible from spectacular viewing points. Bronze, Silver and Gold riders will then drop into the more technical terrain of the Tsoelike River Valley. After the first tough 9km, the riders will summit Boulder Pass, which is where the Bronze riders finish. The Silver and Gold riders continue with the short but challenging Silver section. This is 5km of stamina testing, hard enduro riding. The Silver Route finishes at the same point where the riders started the Lesotho section. The Gold riders then take on a further 12km of proper extreme, technical riding, and they finish at the same point.

Bronze riders may take on the Silver Section and Silver riders may take on Gold if they feel up to the challenge, after riding their own sections. Alternatively, they may re-enter their own loops to repeat the section. Riders are required to report to the marshall at the Start / Finish before doing so. All riders must report to the Start / Finish marshall before heading back to Chertsey along the same liason route. The top Gold riders should take about 40 minutes to ride the Bronze route, a further 20 minutes to ride the Silver section and about 2 hours to finish the Gold loop. The liason between Chertsey and the border post should take about 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

The Gold section is tough and in your face; definitely not for sissies. There are no cliff hangers on the bronze and silver loops. Silver is a bit more difficult and Gold is only for the pro’s. Welcome to hard enduro riding at its best!

Each rider must bring 10lts of Petrol which will be transported to Ramas Gate.
Please mark your containers so we can get them back to you after the ride.
